Earned Value Management (EVM) ImplementationEarned Value Management (EVM) is widely used in the industry as a project management control technique that helps to objectively and succinctly identify how a project is executing against the baseline plan, and provides forecasts as to how it will finish. Understanding the metrics that will affect a project delivery—such as technical, schedule and cost performance enables us to anticipate potential challenges before they happen and take remedial action before they occur. This results in a project that runs smoothly, efficiently and on budget with minimal tradeoffs. Also by leveraging EVM best practices our team strives to improve the definition of project scope, prevent scope creep, communicate objective progress to stakeholders, and keep the project team focused on achieving progress. Our Earned Value Professionals understand that all project steps “earn” value as work is completed. Once Earned Value and Planned Value are known, these can then be used to determine schedule and cost variance, and calculate performance efficiency. Earned Value (EV) knowledge is also used to compare the actual costs and planned costs to determine project performance and aids in Forecasting Future Performance trends.
